A Recap of my April Grocery Spending

Well, it's hard to believe it's May already! I was looking over my spending for the month of April and thought I'd share it with you so you know I'm still "on track" with my spending. :) If you're new around here, I budget $60wk/$240mo for groceries. My groceries include all paper products, health and beauty and diapers.

Total Spent - $203.66
Total Saved With Coupons - $761.28
Total Saved With Sales - $114.56
Total Saved With Rebates - $39.99
Total Savings - $915.83
Total Coupons Used - 342 (YIKES!!!!)
It's crazy to think had I not used any coupons and not submitted for rebates I would have paid $1,004.93! Now obviously had I not used coupons I wouldn't have bought so many things. :) There were quite a few things I bought this month that I bought alot of because it was free or close to free after coupons.

This month I'm under budget by $36.34. Now don't think for a minute that I have that $36 laying around here!! It bugs me so bad that I come out under budget the end of the month and I don't have the cash to prove it. I do have $24 of it here that I plan to use to buy some flowers for my flowerbeds. I do know some of my extra grocery money I used at McDonald's to treat the kiddos and I bought myself lunch at Chipotle when I was in Columbus on Wednesday.

So my goal for the next month is that any grocery money that I have left at the end of the week to put it aside and not spend it!!!! If I do happen to spend it that I write it down that way I know where it went. Now, you guys need to keep me accountable to this!!! Okay?

Did you meet your grocery budget goals for the month? I'd love to hear about it!

Are you curious how I track my spending? I use this Savings Tracker. It is free to download and is a great way to track your savings.

I didn't do any rebates this month...do you count ECB's?

And Michelle, don't worry over $12 of un-accounted for money. :) You did great. :)

  3. OK...I was looking at the April tab and now I look at the summary and it looks a little different. What do you go by?
    I am confused...
I do know that I saved almost $600 and had a savings percentage of around 81%...not sure what's what otherwise. :)

  4. I'm not sure how I used so many coupons but I did it somehow!! :) I did go to Meijer quite a bit this month. I don't usually count ECB's in as coupons when I count how many coupons I've used.

My summary tab matches up except for the coupons column. Must be something messed up with the formulas in the spreadsheet.

Good job on the spending! It's always a good feeling to come out underbudget!!!

  5. Dale's has Our Family brand 8 oz cheese on sale for $1 again this week. (Shreds and chunks) Also, they have bone in chicken breast for .99 lb. I think I will be stocking up on cheese and chicken....I really wish I could get hormone free chicken somewhere for a decent price.....I try to get it whenever possible. I wonder how much the Amish charge?
Did you stop at the Marathon again tonight? :)

  6. I actually stopped at the BP wanting to buy a Mt. Vernon News but they were all out. Then I decided to stop at the Marathon and see if they have any left and they didn't either. I didn't ask about the dispatch. I didn't want to come across wrong beings I'm Mennonite and all... I guess I need to go raid some dumpsters. :)
