Recipe: Wheat Bread

Several readers have requested to have the recipe for my Wheat Bread. I think the instant potatoes flakes gives the bread a nice soft texture.
Wheat Bread
2 1/2 C. Warm Water
1 1/2 T. Yeast
2 C. Wheat flour
1 T. & 1 teas. Salt
1/2 T. Lecithin Granules*
1/3 C. (heaping) Instant Potato Flakes
Combine the warm water and yeast. Let stand for 5 mintues. Add rest of ingredients and stir well. Let stand for 1/2 hour.

1/2 C. Warm Water
1/2 C. Brown Sugar
1/2 C. Oil
Combine and add to first mixture. Mix well; then add 6 cups sapphire flour (I use all purpose flour). Mix well,  and place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Let rise 30 minutes, punch down and let rise 1 hour. Shape into loaves and put in greased pans. Let rise until double. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Yield: 3-4 loaves (depends on your pan size)

I am by no means an expert at baking bread. I have had many "flops" in the past. This is one receipe that I found that turns out for me! Good luck and I hope it works for you!

*I buy my Lechithin Granules at a Bulk Food Store. You should be able to find them in a Health Food Store. I have never look for Lechithin at Kroger or Wal-Mart so I don't know if they carry it.

  1. Thanks for posting the recipe. I will have to try it. I know a friend of mine makes yummy rolls with mashed potatoes and I wonder if the instant ones would work with those too.
