My Spending This Week - $29.85

Whew, I actually can't believe I managed to only spend $29.85 this week on groceries! It was tough but if that's all the cash you have, you gotta make do with it!  I majorly overspent last week which gave me less money to spend this week. It was good for me not have as much grocery money as I usually do! It really made me stop and think, "now do I really need this"? Kinda helped me keep my priorities in mind!
Meijer - $9.58 I split this in 2 different transactions so I could use the catalina coupon from the crescent rolls right away. I also received a catalina coupon for a free gallon of milk for buying the cereal! How I wish Mt. Vernon would have a Meijer!
Kroger - $8.03 I was excited to find the Reynold foil on closeout for $1.49 ea. I used the $1.25 printable and paid only $.24 ea! This my first time buying Steamfresh Frozen Rice. Those of you who have bought it, how do you use it? Is it seasoned that you use it as a side? Use it in casseroles? Make mexican rice with it?
Family Dollar/CVS $5.78 - I bought the Mom's Best Oatmeal at Family Dollar and was able to get it for only $.25 ea. after coupons! The Huggies and wipes I got at CVS. I had a CVS coupon for $4 off wyb Huggies Diapers and wipes, hence why I bought the small travel size wipes. Who would pay $2 for that little container of wipes?
Kroger/Dales $6.46 - The Lays Chips were bought at Kroger for only $.99 a bag after coupons! Dales had Kraft Cheese on sale this week for $1.25. I had $1/2 blinke coupons I used on that.

March 2010 Spending
Total Spent: 239.99
Total Saved w/Coupons: $602.74
Total Saved w/Sales: 204.38
Total Savings: $856.11

We budget $240.00 a month/$60.00 a week for groceries and as you can see I came just shy of that by a penny. :)

How was your spending for the month?

  1. Wow! That's funny that you are 1 penny close. :)
    My numbers:
Total spent in March: (Budgeted amount 200)
    $194.15
    Saved with coupons $745.49
    Saved with sales $180.83
    Rebates coming in $16
    Total savings $926.32
    Saved 75.74% YAYYYY!!!
Used 226 coupons (Help I am addicted!)

Now for the disclaimer. :) This month was crazy with 3 birthday parties and being host family! $40 a week just doesn't cut it. So I ihave to confess that I spent $36 on John's party that did not get entered. I told him to put it in the gift category. :) I decided since he is turning 30, I wanted to have a special party and I just spent extra. :)
So including that I spent $231.30
Also I lost a Kroger receipt. I ented the amount I spent, but of course don't know how many coupons, etc.... to enter. I know I saved at least 70% on that round so my savings are probably close to $1,000 this month! :)
AND FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, (Thanks to triples and the mega event) I get to save .20 a gallon in April, for Kroger Gas! I never hit $349 in a months time. (Thankfully this is before coupons!) LOL!!! So I intend to fill up as often as possible at Kroger gas stations!

  2. BTW, great job on the spending this week!! It's so hard when you have to spend less cause of the previous week's "transgressions". :) LOL! Ask me how I know! I think I had between $25-$30 left for this week after my triple coupon spending last week. :)

  3. And yay for you finding that foil! Was there any left? :) Which one did you find it at? Heath or Newark?
I am sooooo tempted to go get next week's grocery money out and get more cheese at Dale's!

  4. Whoops, I wanted to put in how many coupons I used and I forgot. I used 323 coupons! That's alot of coupons!

I had to go to check my last Kroger receipt to see what my points were for March and I had 390 points!!! I can't believe I got in the $.20 category! I'm not feeling quite so guilty now for buying what I did last week during triples!

I found the foil at the Heath Kroger and there was still quite a bit there. I'm thinking though that it may be a better deal at K-Mart because I think the foil at K-Mart had more per sq ft than the ones I bought at Kroger. I decided to get anyways because we really don't know what will happen next week at K-Mart.

Great job on your spending and I wouldn't feel bad about spending extra on John's b-day party. Sometimes I think we have to "live" a little bit too!

Go get more cheese at Dales!!! If we go to Holmes County tonight I want to stop in and buy more! I highly doubt we'll be able to find a sale as good as that!

  6. I know Rachal, I'm "bad" when it comes to coupons. :) I used alot of coupons at Target this month with stacking Taget printables w/manufacturer coupons.

I can't wait to see the amount of coupons I'll use in 1 year!

  7. Michelle, I am impressed that you were able to stay under budget! Way to go! :) And I'm drooling over that cheese price. I bought some at Giant for $1 a bag after coupons and thought I was getting a good deal!

  8. Lydia,
It's very unusal for us to be able to buy cheese for $.75 a bag. I am usually happy to find it for a $1 a bag. I'll probably be kicking myself a month from now for not buying more cheese when it was so cheap. Oh, well...

  9. Michelle,
I just came across your blog from one of your comments on For the Momma's. It's great to see a fellow blogger from Ohio. I just recently started blogging about the great deals I find with coupons. And I wish Wooster had Meijers. I miss shopping at the one in Mansfield.
