CVS: Cheap Tampax & Charmin!

Many of you probably know that  most people are receiving a $5/$15 CVS coupon at the bottom of their receipt this week. I was lucky enough to get one today so I went right back in the store and did the following deal.

On the front page of the CVS flier they have advertised that you can get a FREE 9 pk of Charmin when you buy $25 worth of the following participating items; Tide, Bounce, Aussie, Crest, Bounty, Always, Duracell, Clairol, Pampers, Cascade. Here's what I came up with.

8 Tampax Pearl - $2.97 ea = $23.76
2 Dawn Hand Renewal - $.97 ea = $1.94
1 Charmin Toilet Paper - FREE per CVS promo
Total =$25.70
Coupons Used:
$5/$15 CVS Coupon
8 - $2/1 Tampax Pearl from the 6/6 P&G
2 - $1/1 Dawn Hand Renewal from Home Made Simple
1 - $1/1 Charmin from Home Mailer
Total - $1.70 + tax!!!

You can of course work this around to suit your needs better. You obviously need quite a few coupon inserts to do this scenario.

  1. Wow Michelle! You are amazing! That is so awsome! You should be stocked up on tampons for a long time! :)
At Staples, they took my coupons for the Marcal Paper towels, but she had to do one coupon per transaction. (I think it's because it was a "free" coupon. No one was in line behind me and it only took a few minutes, but it probably wouldn't work very well to do 20 at a time. I got 6 rolls and with that I have 20 rolls in my stock pile! I only use about one a month plus camping season takes more, so I am stocked for a long while. It's such a good feeling to see a years supply of detergent, paper towels, razors, toothbrushes, paste etc....we are blessed! I would like to start a "donate" box and then make baskets or boxes to give to people that don't coupon and are having a hard time financially. To be able to give a whole basket of stuff for only the cost of tax is awsome! What would we do if we lived some other part of the country that didn't have CVS and Kroger???

  2. Oh and I forgot to tell you that I got that $2 free extra buck that everyone is talking about! :) Yay!

Grace and Monica, if you need $2 Tampax coupons to do the deal above ^^^^^ I have three (Unexpired) and one (expired) you can have.

  3. I got one of those coupons today and thought it was 3/15. so I checked it just now and it is 5/15! I still need to work out a scenario with it. I was thinking of doing something with the scrubbing bubbles and windex, but it would be great to get free toilet paper!

I won another giveaway! A layette set from Macy's! I hope it's for a boy!

Rachel, do you like those paper towels? I never bought any, but did buy the kleenex and thought they were a bit to papery. I do buy the napkins though when they go on sale.

  4. Twila,
Yes I do like them, but I am no paper towel connoisseur! ;) They are not soft, but I don't use them for, say....TP. :) They don't have any print and are made of recycled materials. Free is free for me! :)
I don't know that I would want to use tissues on my nose. I am pretty much a Kleenex and Puffs snob. :) I tried the TP once and it was kinda like Scotts, which is what I normally use.

  5. What I meant was that I don't know that I would use the Marcal tissues on my nose....

  6. OK that sounded even worse...where else would I use them??? ;) I should have said I probably wouldn't buy them if they were scratchy. ;)

  7. Wow, Twila you sure have the right touch with winning giveways! Isn't this the 3rd one you've won now?

Rachal, LOL sometimes things just don't sound like we want them to when it's on paper. ;) I plan to go to Newark this weekend then maybe I'll stop at the Staples down there. Yes, I feel very blessed! We have so much and yet at times I feel ungrateful...I need a kick in the butt for that!

  8. Lol, Rachel!
Do your grocery stores not carry the Marcel products? Or are they on sale at Staples this week? And I guess I am a paper towel snob. I only use Bounty select-a-size, white. I've been able to get pretty good deals on the 6 packs at CVS. And with the select-a-size they last longer. When we had a boarder living here I gave him grief for grabbing so many paper towels to wipe stuff up. I definately hate to waste them.
And I love my stock pile too! It's so nice to be able to share with people, and I know it's helped my grocery budget. And I can splurge here and there where I felt like I couldn't before. Thanks to Michelle for clueing me in on all this!
I think this is the fourth giveaway I've won! I keep entering...you never know!

  9. Twila,
Kroger used to carry 6 or 8 pk paper towels, Kmart had paper towels and toilet paper, and Family Dollar used to carry the single paper towel rolls. Then they all disappeared. I thought there was no Marcal in town! $1 is the regular price at Staples. I just now found them. :) If you're a Bounty snob, then you probably won't like the Marcal paper towels.:)
